    day in Dublin and a certain gentleman was curious to know if she was a good and courageous as her appearance led him to believe her. Now Miss Hayes was accompanied by a Spaniel dog and the gentleman knowing that all dog lovers believe that they who strike my dog strike myself. He approached her and kicked the dog as he passed her by. She there and then challenged him to fight a duel. He then knew that she was as brave as she looked. He contrived to get acquainted with her, and afterwards made her his wife. She afterwards became Lady Balthurst.
