  1. I have asked a few of my old neighbours what they think of the Towerhill story; that is if they believe the place was named from the tower on the hill or Tower Hill in London. Many believe the latter story as they would be inclined to believe that the place was called Towerhill before the tower was ever built. The tower was used by the Lloyds for a flag tower. That when the flag flew at full mast, Lloyd was at home, and when it was at half mast, he was away. This signal was used for the benefit of his friends or agents, who might be coming to visit him. Many say the tower is not so very ancient. Well, I have seen a very old map of Co. Limerick on which the
