    offered any one who would conform to Protestantism, soup and bread. Very few people accepted the offer however and they who did were very sorry for the rest of their lives. one man who lived a half a mile from the Glebe Mansion, told Mr. Coote would he would conform if Mr. Coote would give him enough to eat till the famine was over. Coote was only too glad and promised the man everything he wanted.
    When the man was eating the 2nd day at Coote's table, he felt his throat getting sore, but said nothing. in bed that night, he got worse and Coote sent for Doctor Ellis, who lived in Knocknacorriga schoolhouse at the time. The doctor said was the coming signs of the horrible disease of cancer. The
