  1. My father told me that there are many strange cures used in the neighbourhood and many different herbs are used for those cures.
    1. Their cure for whooping cough, boil eyebright in milk and drink the liquid. Also put the patient under an ass's stomach seven times and it will cure the cough.
    2. For stomach trouble - boil dandelion and drink the liquid.
    3. For heart trouble - boil three meals of nettles before the first of May.
    4. For a sty in your eye - look through a golden, wedding ring.
    5. For warts - rub your fasting spit to it for three mornings.
    6. For a tooth-ache - put a frog in your mouth and it will wear away.
    7. For a head-ache - On St Martin's Eve, when you kill a fowl, sprinkle blood on a ribbon ad tie it round your head.
    8. For a burn or a sting - put a dock-lea or a blue-bag [for the clothes] to it and it will ease the pain.
    9. For a boil - Boil fat meat and put it
