in the wall and she lays five eggs and hatches them for three weeks.
The wren is the smallest of all birds and is also the King. A story is related of how he became King. It was the time when St Colmcille lived and all the birds were deciding to have a King but they were all quarelling for the position. The crow said that they should go to St. Colmcille as he was very wise, so off they flew.
St Colmcille said that whichever one flew the highest would be King. They were not long in the air when they dropped out one by one and the eagle only was left. She flew up till she could fly no farther and then the wren flew from his back a flew two feet higher and came down King of the birds.
