  1. About seventy years ago there lived in the townland of Ballea a hero named Martin Lanheady. He died about thirteen years ago. He was a thatcher by trade. In his early life he carried a forty stone sack of wheat up a ladder in a mill. He used to mow an acre of hay with a scythe in a day. This was his daily task during the season of hay-cutting. He was a small man of a stout build. He was said to be as broad as he was long.
