    were then formed into the shape of a cake and baked, a few hot potatoes being put through it to stick it together. This bread was often used as paste on a goose, to soften it as it was supposed to be very hard.
    Bread used to be baked twice a week. The name of the vessel on which it was baked was a griddle or often a "bastable". The latter is now called a "Baker".
    I, Peg Heenan, Cloninaha, Borrisokane, Co. Tipp. got the above from the old people in the district who came into the house from time to time.
