  1. About two months ago a man by the name of Dan Darcy was coming home from Nenagh. He was half drunk and on his way he met a man by the name of Pat Tierney who was also drunk and Dan asked him to get up in the car. Pat did so and when they were near his house Dan said to him "You have not far more to go and you will be able to go the rest of the way yourself". Pat had to go across to fields and there was a very high ditch between two fields. Pat said "You will have to take me over the ditch for I will not be able to get over it myself".
Dan took him over the ditch and when he was coming back he had to cross a stile. This stile was supposed to be haunted but Dan did not think of that. When he was near the stile he saw a man sitting on it. This man's name was Day Ryan who had died about six months ago. Dan Darcy forgot about he being dead and he said "Good night Dan isn't it a lovely night". "Tis indeed thank God" answered Dan.
It was too late for Dan Darcy to go home and he said he would go (home) to the public house that was about a quarter of a mile from where he was. He asked Dan Ryan to go with him and Dan said he would.
