- The Land League started about the year 1880 John Dillon and Michael Davitt were the men who first started it. It started in Tipperary town and then it spread all over the country.
There were meetings held in every village in the country. Those meetings were held to boycot anyone that would take up an evicted farm or any one who would be seen talking to people who were living in the evicted farms.
There used to be meetings held in large towns. All the people would unite together and ride into the town where the meeting was taking place. Often times the meetings would be prohibited by the English.
Cromwell came to this country in the year 1649. He did not come to this district. He came to the Dolla.
