There are two forges in the parish of Ballywilliam. The smith's names are Mr. Maher and Mr. Ryan.
Mahers have been smiths for two or three generations. The forge is situated near a crossroad. It is made of stone and brick, there is a galvanize roof on it and there is a hole in the roof to let out the smoke. The door is an oblong shape and is painted with tar.
