- Treasure hidden by the Danes.There is said to be treasure hidden by the Danes in a burrow near Lacken, Co. Limerick. There is also treasure hidden between Culahill Castle and Drombane Upperchurch parish and in Knockmehil and Glenbeg and Carhue Upperchurch. It was hidden by the Danes.
A man named Philip Phelan dug down in the Lacken burrough until he came to the treasure and the spade went in dust in his hands. The following morning his hand was covered with black spots, and one of his legs became paralised, and he has remained that way for the past thirty years.
