    5. Another way of finding a husband was to get a ball of woollen thread, go to a lime kiln, stand back a bit from it, throw the thread into the mouth of the kiln and say "Who holds my hand"? Her future husband would hear the question wherever he was. The next time she would meet him he would ask her to marry him.
