    homeless and weary travellers. He eventually built a monastery in Church street, on the site where the protestant church now stands and it is generally believed that his body is interred in the grounds neat the spot where Saint Cronan's cross now stands.
    The cross has an image of the Saint on it, carved int stone and tradition has it that when the grounds were taken by the protestant's they tried to descerate the cross. The knees of the image were first attacked, when suddenly the cross began to pour blood. The knees of the Saint immediately seperated from the rest of the body and remained a little lower down on the stone construction.
