    Tim Crowe of Bancha was a great runner. He was the five mile champion of Ireland and he is living in Bancha still. A great high jumper was Bourke of Cappawhite. He jumped six feet, six inches before His Holiness Pope Leo, the thirteenth, in Rome, some years ago.
    Another great runner was J.J. Ryan of Tipperary. He won many long distance races. A great boxer that came from Templemore whose name was Dan Morrissey was the champion of the champion of the world fifty years ago. He is dead for a number of years.
