"Dan, Dan Thread the Needle" is played in the following manner. - Two girls with joined hands stand facing each other, and think of two words such as "watch" a "chain" while the other girls who are all in a line, pass under their joined hands, and say at the same time Dan, Dan thread the needle." Dan, Dan sew," and as the last girl passes under the joined hands she is asked by both girls which she prefers a watch or a chain. According to the answer she gives she takes he proper place, and so the game continues until all the players stand in two rows. The game is now finished by a tug of war between the two rows of girls.- Collector

One girl is supposed to be the 'hag.' Several girls line up after each other. The 'hag' does not go with those. The first girl, girl of the now is called the "mother'" and as they pass the "hag" the "mother" asks what time is it?(continues on next page)
