    rain. When the cat sleeps with her back to the fire or if you see a dog eating grass, you can expect rain.
    The birds that leave this country before Winter are, the swallows, the corn - crake and the cuckoo.
    The birds that come here for the Winter are the wood - cock, the wild - geese and the starlings, if the starlings come early in great numbers, it is a sure sign of a bad winter.
    When the distant hills looks near it is a sign we are near rain.
    If the fog is broken and scattered on the hill side it means rain, and if the fog is thick on the hill top it is a sign of fine weather. If the dust blows up in clouds in the air, it is also a sign of rain.
    If there is a great noise from a distant waterfall it is a sign of rain. If insects are numerous, flying about on a Summer's evening it forcasts rain. If smoke
