  1. This story happened during the time of the great fairs held in Ireland. At that time, there lived a man named Daniel, who was so stout, that he was a laughing stock to all his neighbours. Daneil did not like going any place for that reason, but he was very fond of looking on at fairs, and he made up his mind to go to this fair.
