   Shrove is the time of the year that marriages take place. Shrove Tuesday is one of the principal days for marriages to take place. Tuesday and Thursday are lucky days to get married. The two people that are getting married never go in the same car to get married. An old shoe is often hung to the back of the car for luck. Long ago match making was practised very much, but now it is not. Money is given to the couples who are getting, long ago is was goods were given. Presents were given by the neighbours and friends to the married couples. Marriage never took place in houses around here. After the couples getting married each of their friends would give them a party in turn
