Marriages took place in houses up to about 90 yrs ago. The bridegroom is supposed to be in the Church before the bride. The bride should wear

Formerly rice was thrown on the newly-married couple as they were leaving the Church to wish them luck, but now confetti is used. An old brogue is usually tied out of the motor which conveys bride and bridegroom from Church.
