  2. The townland of Kilaidmee was very thickly populated before the famine, and people can still point out houses that are in ruins and were occupied before it.
    A fog came in from the ocean in August, and blighted the stalks, causing to blacken and rot, it spread quickly, and the whole crop was ruined.
