  1. Basket Making
    The best men at this craft is Joh Shiels (65) Ballyglasheen, Kilfeackle, Golden.
    He makes large potato baskets hand baskets (shopping)
    fishing baskets (to strap on the back)
    Also cradles.
    In the making of all these he uses "sallies" from a local sally yard
    Making of Mats:
    Mats are made by John Sheils also. He uses a wooden frame. The materials are wheaten straw, and hemp for sewing the mat.
    They are used on bedroom floors.
    Making Sweets.
