  2. One night the Blessed Virgin and the Holy Child was travelling and it was very dark and cold. Then she saw a farmers house and she went in there for a nights lodging and the woman of the house told her to clear out that this was no hour for her to be looking for lodging. Then the poor woman and her child went away and she just met the man of the house in the yard and he asked her did she get any lodgings and she said no. Then he told her to come over to the barn that it was full of [?] and herself and the child could lie down on it and the man said "Anything is better than to be out in the night's air."
