   On the land of Mr.Cavanagh an underground passage is situated. It runs from Kyle to Crogue and it is said that it was used as a means of escape for the monks when they were being pursued by enemies.
   It is said that in ancient times a monastery stood on Kyle and if the passage was explored holy objects would be found because it was also used as a hiding place for the monks.

   During the time that the Normans were in Ireland the Abbey of Tipperary was built and the Agustinian order occupied it. There was a church built there and that was a Catholic church. When that was destroyed a Catholic church was where the present Protestant church now stands. After a while the English knocked it down and built a Protestant church in its place. Then a Catholic church was built in St.Michaels Street and then that was destroyed and a Catholic church was built and it still stands where it was built in Saint Michaels Street.
