- Tradition relates that there is a crock of gold hidden in the castle of Ballysheedy. Years ago men in the neighbourhood went digging for it.
After digging for some time they looked across at their houses and saw them on fire. They ran to extinguish the fires but when they reached their homes there was no fire.
They were terribly frightened and they did not venture to return to the castle again. That put an end to their search for gold and it has been left untouched from that day to this.- Informant
