    the first to get married, out in the haggard to pull a head of cabbage from the root. If the stump would be straight she would marry a tall young man and if the stump was crooked she would marry a man with a stoop. I also heard that if a young girl could take the skin of an apple without breaking it and then hang it up she would be married to the first boy that would come in.
    I was also told that they used to dress up and go around to the houses dancing and singing and when they would be finished they would get a piece of a loaf to see which one of them would get the ring.
    I was also told that a girl would put nine beans in her mouth and go around to the doors of the neighbourhood in silence and listen and the first boys name she would hear she would be married to him. If was also told that they used to melt lead and let it out through the eye of a key in to a basin of water and it would take different shapes then a person used be blindfolded and they would take out one of the drops
