    The wren, the wren,the king of all birds ,
    Saint Stephens day he was caught in the furze.
    Although his family was great,
    get up ladies and give us a treat .

    We chased the wren from rock to rock,
    And ran him into a public shop,
    Although he being little
    We dipped his nose in a bottle of beer,
    So we wish you all a happy New Year.
    3.
    The wren, the wren,the king of all birds ,
    Saint Stephens Day he was caught in the furze.
    Although he being little his family was great,
    Up with the landlady and give us a treat,
    If you fill it with the small,it wont agree with the boys atal.
    But if you fill it with the best ,I hope in Heaven your soul will rest,
