  1. About a hundred years ago in a neatly thatched house at the foot of Mount Callan there lived a family named White. For years and years a man used to come into the kitchen and turn into a small room which was in the end of the house. This continued for a long time. None of the people used to speak to him or would he speak to them. One night as usual, they were at supper. The man entered into the house and a child of five years said to him, "uncle come here and eat some of the new potatoes." "You are a very good child" said the man "I have come here for years and years and no one had the courage to speak to me." "Come here now" and he took the child to the small room and in a corner he raised a flag and took a crock of gold from under it. He gave the gold to the child and then disappeared and he never afterwards appeared on the scene.
