- In Ennis there are the ruins of an old Franciscan Abbey. Among the many tales told of it is one of buried treasure.
Gold is supposed to have been buried by the Kings of Thomond under where the small statue of St Francis stands a few yards from the main gate. - 6. Clare Abbey lies about a mile from Ennis close to the railway line to Limerick. Gold and silver were buried there, it is stated, by one of Brian's(continues on next page)
