- During the penal times the priest of this district used to say Mass in the land of Patrick Lynch. The people of Kilnamona and Dysart came to hear Mass there. They had an Alter made of stones. They had two stones left on the ground and they had one big stone left across them. This field is about two miles north east of the school in the townland of Magowna. It is in the middle of a crag.
The priest used to say Mass in the middle of the crag so that the English soldiers would not capture them. There used be Mass also said in Kilcross during the penal times. That is also in the middle of a crag. They used have a Church. The ruins of the Church are there yet, and it is a grave yard nowadays.- Collector
