    Bhí beirt fhear ag siubhail na sráide lá. Do bhí súile cama ag ceann acu, agus do bhúaileadar igcoinnibh a cheile. "Cad na thaobh ná feúcann tú roimhe" arsa fear na súl gcam leis an bhefar eile. "Ní headh" arsan bhfear eile. "acht cad na thaoibh ná dteigheann tusa an slighe atá tú ag feuchant.

    Bhí Seán agus Tomás ag dul treasna abhann lá. Bhí eagla ar Thomás go mbáidhfí é, agus dubhairt sé "Tá Dia maith, "tá arsa Seán, agus níl an diabhal ró olc uaireannta. Tadg a dhá thaobh do b'ead Seán.
