“About 65 years ago in the Inagh Parish it happened that...”
376
About 60 years ago in the Inagh Parish it happened that a party of men were to come to a house where lived a girl who had a large fortune to get.
The girls' brother heard that the men were to come and take away.
The girl was ironing clothes when the brother told her the story.
They thought of a plan.
The boy said he would put on the girls white cap and clothes and go ironing.
Soon a knock was heard on the door and the men took away the boy in mistake for the girl.
Next morning they took the girl, so they thought, to the chapel to marry one of the men.
In the chapel the boy threw off the girls clothes and everyone in the chapel began to laugh at the man who thought he had a girl with a large fortune.
