- There are five kinds of potatoes around this district namely:-Champion, Bloomers, Connacht, Connamara, Queens and Aran Banners.
The Champions are said to be the best potatoes around the district.
The land is first tilled, it is then dug in high ridges in winter. It is leveled out in spring and then the drills are opened; the potatoes are sown then. When the stalks are up they are sprayed with blue-stone.
When potatoes are picked they are put into a heap.- Collector
