Féilí na Bliadhna .
There are many customs carried here on certain days. Some of these are: On St. Stephen's Day boys go around dressed up and sing songs ,and dance .They carry a wren on big branches of holly decorated with coloured papers: they gather money and sing the following verse :
"The wren ,the wren, the king of all birds ,
On St.Stephen's Day was caught in the furze ,
ALlthough he was small his family was great .
Rise up landlady and give us a treat,
Up with the kettle and down with the pan ,
Give a penny or two to bury the wren".
On St. Stephen's Night also, they kill a chicken and sprinkle the blood on cotton woll ,they sprinkle it also on sick people and it cures them .On Shrove Tuesday every household makes pancakes and they a great feast at night.- Collector
