- 3. St Patrick's Well
This well is about one mile from Carlingford, on the North Commons. It is in a field owned by Mr. West.
St. Patrick is supposed to have used the water for baptizing during his stay in the district. The mark of his knees was visible on one of the stones, which has since been sent to the museum in Dublin.
On March 17th the people visit the well, and bring drinking vessels with them and drink some of the water. Some make two visits, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. - Told to me by my mother.
