  1. Local Marriage customs
    The unlucky days are Fridays and Saturdays
    They do not like to go home the same way as they come because it is said to be unlucky
    When the people see the bride coming they meet her and give her a bottle and if she breaks the bottle at fist she will have good luck
    Marriages take place from the first of June until the end of November
    People never get married in the month of May, for the old people say
    'Marry in May and you will rue the day'
    Most marriages are on Mondays and Wednesdays
    Marriages usually take place before Advent or on Shrove Tuesday
    When people are going to the church to be married they go the shortest way and go home the longest way
    The bride and the groom do not go to the church together
    The time most marriages took place were during Shrove
    It is said that
    Mondays is for health,
    Tuesdays for wealth,
    Wednesdays for the best day of all
    Thursdays for losses
    Fridays for crosses and Saturdays no day at all
    The bride comes to the church with the best man and the groom comes with the brides maid
    The wedding feast is usually in the bride's house
    Any man who does not give a dance the night of the
