- Old Houses
According to the old people the houses long ago were mostly thatched with straw others with rushes and some with sedge, very few were slated.
When the corn was threshed the straw was drawn and put in bundles and sprinkled with water and left there for a week.
The thatchers came along and put it on in layers on the house.
The slates are got in quarries like stones.
They are dressed and squared and left ready to be put on the roof.
