Ardee - Weather lore When the stars shine brightly the weather will be cold and frosty
When the sun rises red it is the sign of rain but when it sets red it is the sign of good weather
When the hills look near it is the sign of rain
When a big halo is seen round the moon the storm is near at hand
When it is small the storm is far away
When the swallows fly low it is the sign of rain
