  1. There was a ford on the river Glyde at Aclint where Own Roe O'Neill met the Earl of Essex. (Not as commonly supposed by some at Essexford, where there is no river at all.).
    There is a ford at Ballyregan near Rocktate (Co Louth) called, Ceis-a-var.
    Ford on the River Glyde at Tully and near it St Patrick is said to have jumped across the river leaving the imprint of his foot on the bank where he "landed".
    Ford also at Coolrath, near Mills of Louth.

  2. A castle was supposed to have stood in a field in Toomes. Not even a trace of it remains now but the name "The Caislean field" or Castle field is still applied to the particular field in question. The "Castle field" in Rostate. Property of Ml Kelly Lowertown
