“One day Bobby Burns was drinking in a public house.”
One day Bobby Burns was drinking in a public house. The publican said to him, "I'll stand you a drink if you put in rhyme what God likes best, what the devil likes best, what the world likes best and what I like best." Bobby won his drink by composing the following:-
"God likes best when you refrain from sin,
The devil likes best when you persist therein,
The world likes best when you do draw good wine,
And you like best when I do pay for mine. "
