Long ago there was a poor woman...

Long ago there was a poor woman who had a little child. It was always crying. She had a tailor in the house and everytime she would go out for anything the child would sit up in the cradle and play the pipes. When the child would hear her coming he would lie down again and cry
The tailor said one day to the woman "You are a foolish old woman to mind that fellow When you go out he stops crying and sits up in the bed and takes the pipes from under him and begins to play
What can I do with him said she.
Said he when you go out to-morrow take him on your back and go across the plank over the river and throw him in. So she let him fall in. When he was in the river he said Oh you old witch if I had to know that I would not go with you. When she went home her own child was in the cradle. The other had been a fairy child
