- About one hundred years ago there were very few schools in Drogheda. The one I am going to describe can not be seen as the Unemployment Exchange is there in William St.
There was no Irish spoken as there were English soldiers in the town at that time. There were forms for desks, the master had a table made of rough wood. The name of the teacher was Mr Byrne. He resided at William St. beside the school. The pupils went to school at half past nine o'clock and at twelve o'clock they got home(continues on next page)- Collector
