- There are not many old forts near Drogheda, however I am going to tell a few that was told to me recently.
There is a place near Drogheda called Johnsfort. There is an old fort there believed to be used by the Danes. There is another old fort about a mile and a half from the village of Louth. It is on the path of Queen Maeve which she took when she went to the north. There is another very old fort at Townley Hall near Drogheda which has many links with the past.(continues on next page)- Collector
