  1. About 50 years ago each side of the road in Johnstown was lined with houses.
    A man called Dignan kept a saw mills in the neighbourhood. The owners got broken and the whole thing fell through. The workers left and the old cottages were cleared away.
    Mrs Oakes remembers 60 young unmarried people living in Johnstown.
    The sites of the houses can still be pointed out.
