- Anglo Irish WarIn the year 1920 when the soldiers of Ireland were throwing their weight against the might of England in an endeavor to establish an Irish Republic they invented a gun for the purpose of firing bombs. A number of the Local company brought the gun to Lustown Dunboyne to have it tested by the inventor a man named Mathew Furlong a native of Wexford this was in October 1920. Having placed the gun in position, Furlong proceeded to load and fire. About five bombs were pitched a distance of 120 yards. His sixth(continues on next page)
