- Local HappeningsIn the Summer of 1798 a regiment of Black horse visited Dunboyne. They came from Kilbride where they amused themselves firing at the Iron cross on the old Kilbride Church. Mr Brasington a protestant gentleman ran to the house of the priest. (Father Connell) and told him the soldiers were coming. The priest fled to Rooske through the back door of his garden. The Military searched for him in vain plundered his house and set fire to it.
