    he also supplied with food, clothing, and other necessaries. For his eminent virtues and sanctity he was canonized by Pope Honorius (III)., A.D. 1226. The festival of St. Laurence O'Toole, as patron saint of the diocese of Dublin was annually celebrated on the 14th of November.

    Hugh de Lacy confiscated and transferred many churches to the English Lords in Meath, Brefney and Oriel, and to him the rents of Connaught were paid. He reduced and seized the greater portion of Ireland for the English, and erected castles in all parts of Meath, from the Shannon to the sea. After completing the castle of Dermhagh (Durrow) he came out to view it, accompanied by one - third of the English.
