- The bread which was made locally was made from wheat. The flour was made from querns.
There were several kinds of bread made.
The potato cake was made by potatoes which were left after the dinner. These potatoes were mashed well, and then put into a dish, and mixed with a little flour and salt. If the mixture was to dry, a little new milk was added. It was then put on a frying pan and was fried with grease. When taken up, it was used for the tea and any of it that was left over after the tea was usually kept for the breakfast, and fried again.
