    2. St. Bridget's Day
Ther are many old customs relating to St. Bridgets Day in my neighbourhood. One special custom is the making of St. Bridget's cross. The cross is made of freshly pulled rushes and each member of the house makes one each, they are hung over each door in the house and over the horsestable.
Some people put out clothes on the eve of St. Bridget's Day in order to obtain a blessing from her.
    3. St. Patrick's Day.
It is a custom to wear a bunch of shamrock and a badge in ones coat on St. Patrick's Day. Men generally wear the shamrock in their hats. It is also a custom among the Irish people to send shamrocks abroad to America to their friends.
    4. Shrove Tuesday
It is an ancient custom to have pancakes for tea on Shrove Tuesday. This is done to show that Lent begins the following day.
    5. Ash Wednesday
