    on the fair green and an effigy of Mr. Nicholson burned. The rhyme was then recited–
    “We travelled to Drumbaragh,
    And round by Distanrath.
    ‘Till we made a handsome target,
    Of the “Tory of Balrath.”
    I got this from James Grimes, aged 71, who has now been reinstated, along with his family in a farm in Distanrath. He says that Father Nicholls, P.P., at the time of the eviction owned a farm adjoining the land he has now. The remains of Fr. Nicholl’s house are still there. James Grimes says he found a number of little pipes and turf and a hearthstone in the ruins of the old house of Fr. Nicholls.
