- In olden times there were three chapels in my locality namely, Kilbeg, Staholmog, and Collinstown. Collinstown chapel was situated in a field now owned by Mr. Mc Carroll of Drakerath which in olden times was called Collinstown. Staholmock chapel was called St. Columcille's church and the locality was called after a Saint named Holmock.
Long ago when hedge-school masters were in this locality there were boys who followed those teachers looking to be taught and those boys who were called "poor scholars" were fed at the expense of the local people.
